Kathy Martin is the owner and founder of Elevate Fitness. Previously, she was owner/co-founder of Pulse Newport and in the beginning of her career worked at running health club level programs. She is a lifelong sports, fitness and outdoors enthusiast. Kathy has been involved in the fitness industry for over 20 years and holds certifications in the following: AFAA Personal Trainer~ITPA Tennis Performance Trainer~High Intensity Sports Trainer, AFAA Kickboxing,Pilates/Yoga, Flexibility Specialist, IFPA Foam Roller Specialist~Crossfit Kettlebells, Johnny G Star 2 Spin Instructor. She has also trained in Crossfit, DVRT Sandbags, Rowing. Along with spending her off hours traveling and watching her daughter play college soccer; her most rewarding moments are spent leading classes and specialized bootcamps using high intensity workouts that challenge her clients to the core. I fell in love with exercise and when I say fell… I mean hard. Throughout my life I have always been active. But once I discovered group exercise I was hooked. As a result, I completely changed my career path, became a trainer and now apart of Elevate Fitness. The best bootcamp studio on Aquidneck Island. All this physical activity gave me the Race Bug Bad! Blake is a fit mom who shares the same passion as her daughter; she loves to move! Her career in fitness began as she wanted to improve herself as a ballet, modern and jazz dancer. She realized how important it is to train all parts of your body at different levels of intensity. Blake lived in NYC and worked at a boutique fitness studio. There, she trained clients on a mega former in lagre fitness method. Being so inspired by the idea of resistance training and finding the burn at a slow and steady pace, Blake decided to bring some of her past training qualities to her own workout. After living in NYC for some time, she is back to her hometown in Portsmouth and ready to share the burn!
Where to begin… I am a fitness and gym junkie, with a small ice cream problem, but more importantly I am a mom and a wife. My family is my world! They drive my motivation for everything in life. I want to live an active and healthy lifestyle to help instill those values in my son.
My love for health and fitness started before I can remember. I was always active, running around playing as a kid. I grew up doing gymnastics, playing softball, running cross-country and track, and was on the rowing team at the University of Rhode Island for one year. Currently, I enjoy playing tennis and my true passion is running. I also love a good butt kicking workout at the gym, which always includes strength training.
With my obvious passion for sports and physical activity, it wasn’t hard to pick my career as a physical education teacher. I received my bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology at the University of Rhode Island, and my Master of Science degree at West Virginia University. I taught middle school physical education and adapted physical education for five years, and loved every second of it. With the birth of my first son I realized I wanted to spend more time at home, and figured it was a perfect time to achieve another goal of mine, to get certified as a personal trainer, through ACE. I started personal training in July of 2013. I couldn’t be happier with my career change. I feel as though I now have the ability to reach and help more people to lead active and healthy lifestyles.
I’m fortunate to say that I love my life, my family, and my career. I am here to help others, and hope to one day help you reach your fitness goals and potential, which in turn can help lead to your overall happiness and quality of life. Rebecca Sumner, life and wellness coach, combines training mind and body for an overall transformational achievement. Utilizing unique group and personal training techniques combined with her Master’s degree in clinical psychotherapy and her passion for fitness, Rebecca is dedicated to incorporating cognitive behavioral and mindfulness therapies into a realistic strengths-based wellness program that can be catered to any lifestyle. Riley has been a lifelong athlete. Playing soccer since the age of 3, she went through her early years participating in the highest level soccer clubs in the country. She’s currently a collegiate athlete at Bates college playing forward for their soccer team. Her knowledge and skills with conditioning are second nature to her. She’s got a great gift of being able to communicate making her classes and kids conditioning classes very appealing to everyone.
She’s currently AFAA Group X Certified, CPR Certified and is working on her AFAA Personal Training Certification.
