Jamie Mey, DPT, OCS, CMTPT, CFSC
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Born and raised in Rhode Island, Jamie is a graduate of Sacred Heart University’s Class of 2015 Doctoral Physical Therapy Program with her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. While at Sacred Heart, she was a collegiate hockey player. Jamie appreciates one-on-one care, with emphasis on hands-on manual therapy and approaching rehabilitation with a functional outlook. She believes the physical therapy experience is not just about pain reduction, but also the enhancement of function and performance through a proactive versus reactive mindset.
Since starting her career, Jamie quickly became certified in Gray Cook’s Selective Functional Movement Screen (SFMA), as well as Emergency Medical Response (EMR). In the spring of 2017, she became a Board-Certified Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy (OCS) through the American Physical Therapy Association. This specialty certification allowed her to further develop her knowledge and expand her expertise with more complex orthopedic conditions, post-operative rehabilitation and musculoskeletal injuries. Jamie has a particularly strong interest in working with complex shoulder pathologies, postural dysfunction, athletic injuries and is a strong advocate for dry needling.
Because of Jamie’s passion behind assessing and treating patients functionally, she later became certified in Gray Cook’s Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and a specialized golf assessment certification from the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI). Jamie is also certified in level 3 dry needling through Myopain Seminars and Personalized Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) Training through Owen’s Recovery Science, as well as Certified Functional Strength Coach (CFSC) through Mike Boyle’s and Functional Range Conditioning (FRC) certified.
Jamie offers dry needling sessions, as well as body work sessions consisting of manual therapy. She takes the time to assess your specific impairments, including range of motion limitations, weakness, joint mobility, & pelvic alignment.
Furthermore, she addresses these objective findings w/ manual release techniques, joint mobilizations, myofascial release technique (Graston & Cupping), and pelvic adjustments in order to target everyone’s individual needs. Jamie offers 30 min & hour long sessions at Elevate fitness.
